| The Pacific Heritage Museum presents an exhibition showcasing artworks created by the employees of United Commercial Bank (UCB) and their close family members. As the Pacific Heritage Museum is owned by UCB, this exhibition gives its own members an opportunity to display their artistic talents. Many of the employees are busy with their banking jobs and daily family activities, and may find little time to pursue artistic endeavors. We hope that by giving them a venue to share their art with the public, they would feel encouraged to continue nurturing their artistic creativity. On the other hand, we also hope that the exhibition will reveal to the audience that bankers can be also very artistic people. Over 290 entries were submitted and 100 artworks from 46 participants were selected for display in the exhibition. An art committee was formed to select the artworks for the exhibition. The committee was made up by three members of UCB and two outside consultants: Thomas Wu, Chairman, President and CEO of UCB; Sylvia Loh, Senior Advisor to the CEO; Eleanor Chang, Director of Marketing; artist Bai Ru Ng, and photographer Louis Ng. The Museum is grateful for the time that they spent selecting the artworks. The objects in the exhibition cover a diversity of mediums ranging from ceramics to photography to oil paintings. Within each group, the range of styles differs from the modern to the traditional, from realistic to the abstract. Photography, especially with the popularity and accessibility of digital cameras, is well represented in the exhibition by images of people and places from different corners of the world. Traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy are also represented in the exhibition. A favorite is the children's category which shows the vivaciousness and innocence of the young artists. Hopefully the public will enjoy the variety of styles and subject matters presented in the exhibition. On behalf of UCB and the Pacific Heritage Museum, we thank all the participants for sharing their work with us. They are:
